Privacy Policy

Overview

Coin Drop is a macOS menu bar application developed by Good Bar. It displays live currency exchange rates in your menu bar. We take your privacy seriously and have built the app with privacy as a core principle.

Data Collection

Coin Drop does not collect any personal data. Specifically:

• No personal information is collected
• No usage analytics or telemetry is collected
• No advertising identifiers are used
• No cookies or tracking technologies are used
• No financial data is stored beyond your selected currency pair

Data Storage

All app data is stored locally on your Mac using macOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.

The following information is stored locally:

• Your selected currency pair (e.g. USD to EUR)
• Your refresh interval preference
• The last fetched exchange rate (for offline display)
• The previous exchange rate (for direction indicator)
• Your launch-at-login preference

Network Access

Coin Drop connects to the internet solely to fetch currency exchange rates. The app makes requests to the Frankfurter API (frankfurter.app), which provides exchange rate data from the European Central Bank.

These requests contain only the currency pair being queried (e.g. "USD to EUR"). No personal information, device identifiers, or tracking data is included in these requests.

Third-Party Services

Coin Drop uses one third-party service:

• Frankfurter API (frankfurter.app) — An open-source API that provides exchange rate data published by the European Central Bank. No API key or authentication is required. The Frankfurter API's privacy practices are governed by its own privacy policy.

No other third-party services, SDKs, or analytics frameworks are used.

App Sandbox

Coin Drop runs within the macOS App Sandbox, which limits the app's access to system resources. The app only uses the outgoing network connection entitlement (to fetch exchange rates), the menu bar, and local preferences storage.

Children's Privacy

Coin Drop does not collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.
